Kansas City Renaissance Festival - Bonner Springs, Kansas

We were recently here for the first time and had a blast. I had only been to a couple small Renaissance Festivals in the past, so this was the first larger one. My wife and daughter went to a small one in Omaha, NE with me and the wife enjoyed it and the kiddo really liked it.

We decided to try a bigger one and went to the one in KC as we were already going to be in town. The kiddo dressed up in a nice dress, billowy pirate shirt, and some cloth bracers. I had a basic Viking tunic, trousers and belt. So this was our first time dressing up as well.

The jousting events were fun and the actors all great. We watched all three of them for the day and I would recommend anybody else watch them all.

The vendors were good. My daughter got her first turkey leg ever, we had some good crepes, Apple dumplings, and some amazing honey caramels from a local honey place. I will update with names if I remember.

There is a ton to do and one day really isn’t enough. Next year, we might do MN, but if we come back to KC, will definitely plan on doing two days instead of one.

Nice time to be had from times past. The setting is historically correct period. The costumes are self made and the food is as well origional. Didn't get a turkey leg cause the lines were long. There was all types of plays and different characters performing, a good time to be had by all.

This is an interesting festival that you must experience, especially if you live in the Kansas City area. The artists are so talented, and the items in the shops are amazingly unique and beautiful. I had a ring made for me right before my eyes, and I got to pick the gemstone and the color of the ring itself. The petting zoo is so fun, with tiny baby goats and full-grown sheep. Be sure to get a smoked turkey leg. They are delicious!! The assortment of Ales and beers are tasty and plenty. The jousting is so fun, and it makes you feel like you are back in time in a real life villiage with maidens fighting over the knights. Also, "Royalty" blesses us with their presence in the parade and throughout the day! We had so much fun! Definitely a great day for a family or a group of friends who want to do a pub crawl!

This was my first time visiting. I'd heard about it for years, and I was not disappointed. My two daughters and I dressed up, which was fun. It was great to see all the costumes. So many things to do and see. The living history presentations were fantastic, and my favorite part. The people presenting knew their stuff! It was a bit crowded, and it was a beautiful day as far as temperatures go and breezes. But on a hot day, the crowds and dust would have been kind of unbearable in my opinion. There are a lot of hills to navigate while you walk in dirt. You do have to keep an eye out for exposed tree roots, etc. I saw a few people with walking sticks, and that would be highly recommended if you have difficulty walking. Overall, a great day, and we are going to the Christmas Festival in December, which I'm really looking forward to.

For Kansas it's a very good Reinacense festival. There are bigger and better, but this one is not bad at all. We had lots of fun at the shows and shop the many vendors. We are definitely going back next year. The terrain can be very dusty, keep that in mind when choosing footwear.

We had an amazing time. The staff (characters) made the trip for us. They all were so engaging and fun! We had street tacos and Mexican corn nachos and they were delicious. My only suggestion is to have more places to sit down and rest. There is so much to see. We’ll be back next year. Loved it!

First time going. We had fun. A lot of walking on dirt and stones. So much to see and buy. Do forget to take in a play and tip the actors.The turkey legs tasted GREAT and was reasonably priced.🤗

Had a great time! Lots of vendors, lots of food options and plenty of parking. The crew as expected all maintained a fun and theme appropriate demeanor which always adds to the fun. The website could use more updating it has a lot of "coming soon" even tho its already open for the year. Imagine a good online presence would only help.
