We had a great time last night. I think they have a great thing going. The support staff did an excellent job detailing our table between the dishes we ordered and the items we ordered came out quickly. Pineapple Daiquiri, Queenstown Swizzle, Sherry Cobbler were perfect. Yuca, Croquetas, guava Rangoon were excellent. The band was fun and got the crowd engaged. Can’t wait to return.

Happy to see iconic Cuban Nightclub reopen since being closed 2019! Been open only a week and officially opening Thursday, June 27!

Best part? I know Vietnamese Chef Jon Nguyen & owner of popular Tran An in Little River who will develop a menu bringing some Chino Latino bites! We all know how much Hispanic people adore Asian food. Smart move.

There’s a diverse group of people that came together to make this happen! They’ve done a fantastic job restoring and renovating the space. It’s taken 3 years.

I was lucky to attend a networker last night and started in the smaller, cozy lounge, La Sala separated by a breezeway and beautiful outdoor patio to the nightclub.

Chef Jon aka Uncle Jon took us around the back through the wonderful outdoor garden and introduced us to Mstreettacos! Choice of steak, chicken or Chicharron. I got steak, so tasty, good beef not chewy with creamy avocado but def need to try Chicharron next! They are there only Fridays for now.

When you enter the nightclub, you immediately see the stage and DJ stand with full bar straight ahead. Since I had been booking live music for Smorgasburg last year, I of course was interested in their music program. Uncle Jon gladly introduced me to Melissa Messulam, music producer, Conecta! It was lovely to be able to have a conversation with her. She has already lined up acts for the whole summer. She spoke about honoring the venue and its reputation for Cuban music which I think is so wonderful.

Oh, Mr. Miami, Marvin Tapia dropped in with his wife and enjoyed a dance. Never know who you’ll meet.

Give Hoy Como Ayer a visit especially if you enjoy dancing and cocktails. And La Sala is perfect for a private event for companies or family affair.

The staff was nice but the owner is the rudest person I’ve ever met. We got there when there was nobody else and they let us sit in a big couch. 2 hours later, after spending a lot of money on drinks and appetizers, the owner walked up to us and told us that if he gets a big party reservation we would have to move out of that tablet. That was extremely rude and as an owner he should know better. They should have gave us that tablet in the first place if it was exclusive for reservations. Won’t be back there .

Hoy Como Ayer left much to be desired in terms of customer experience. The reservation process, which is exclusively online, was frustrating; I tried contacting the venue directly by phone, text message, and even Instagram, but received no response. Upon arrival, there was no host to greet us, and the entrance was chaotic. Despite having a confirmed reservation, there was no table available. When I showed my confirmation to the manager, he improvised a solution, but his attitude was dismissive, as if he were doing us a favor instead of acknowledging the lack of organization and respect for customers.

We decided to stay and give the place a chance, but our disappointment only grew. Our drinks took 45 minutes to arrive, and they weren’t even the ones we ordered. To top it off, the music was excessively loud, making it hard to enjoy the evening and affecting our ears.

In summary, my experience was extremely negative. Between the lack of customer service, disorganization, and unpleasant atmosphere, it was one of the worst services I have experienced. I wouldn’t recommend it if you're looking for a venue that values and respects its customers.
