I had an absolute blast at the Pirates of Tokyo Bay improv show! The performers were incredibly talented, quick-witted, and kept the audience laughing throughout the night. However, I wasn’t a fan of the reference to killing a pig – it didn’t sit well with me. That aside, it’s a fantastic show, and I highly recommend it for a fun, interactive comedy night in Tokyo.

Pirates of Tokyo Bay is a bilingual improv show similar to the style of the TV show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' - short games and scenes made up based on the audience's suggestions. Their MCs are amazing - all of the games and setup are seamlessly translated into both English and Japanese. The show is a great way for me to get more practice learning Japanese. I'd imagine for a visitor, it's a fun experience to get a feeling for cultural references from Japan. The last show had a hilarious rendition of Sailor Moon. Even though I can't understand Japanese well, the physical comedy made it really enjoyable.

The audience participation was a highlight—two audience members went up on stage and provided the sound effects during one scene. Comedy chaos ensued.

The show is in a British pub, and it's a fun place to go hang out. The ticket price comes with a free drink!

Such a great show! If you've never watched an Improv Show before, you will be amazed how creative, funny and entertaining pirates can be - even without ships, hooks and 'Arrr'. One of my all-time-recommendations for a great Sunday night you can enjoy with family, friends or co-workers. 5/5!

Found this comedy gem during my first visit to Tokyo! Check them out!!

This was such a cool experience bc they did improv comedy games in Japanese & English. I don’t know japanese but it was still cool to see how comedy is universal. Entry ticket price was economically priced — the ticket even includes a free a drink! Great global and local team of improvisers — had a great sound system for the musical improv and talented keyboardist. Fun games for the audience to participate in and can win additional free drinks or prizes. Can’t stress enough how this is hands down a unique experience for the Tokyo comedy scene of Japan.

外国人の友人に連れられて行きました。あまり期待していなかったのですが、めちゃくちゃ楽しめました！
ワンセクションごとに英語日本語が切り替わりますし、日本語の説明を細かくしていただけるので、英語があまり得意でない方も楽しめると思います。
公演は2時間半程度の大ボリュームですが、全て即興で行われるので飽きることなく楽しめました。
講演後は演者の方達とフランクにお酒を交わすこともできます。
また是非行きたいと思います。

I think the overall quality of the show is good. Having a guest team is a good idea, but the language-gap don't help them at all and a lot of the time, the punchline become their lack of English ability, and just a bit much. I think they are an incredible team when they were doing the Japanese bit, so it was a bit unfair to them.

What bummed me out the most is the woman in the audience shouting throughout the show, sometimes really rude stuff as well. Someone should have gave her some friendly reminder or something. I worked out that person is probably a friend of one of the cast member, so that person should really do something.

The show was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it. The MC did an outstanding job of creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The troupe featured two Japanese improvisers who showcased remarkable acting skills and came up with incredibly engaging lines. The performance seamlessly flowed in both Japanese and English. If you happen to be bilingual, you're in for an absolute treat. However, even if you don't understand Japanese, it won't hinder your enjoyment one bit!
