So, March Madness is going on, and what does the "Good Husband" do? He spends the morning with the "Good Wife" at the Tennessee Fiber Festival held at the Dickson Fairgrounds. Happy Wife, Happy Life!

Went to the Dickson County Fair here. It was fun. Very small. But a good carnival with great rides and the demolition derby was a freakin blast.

Never been to this Fair and never will I go again. Trying to even get to this Fair itself was the biggest pain in the butt EVER!!!!, It was seriously a cluster F once you started driving close to it.
No one directing traffic off the highways, lines of cars cutting in front of others and then some, no southern hospitality whatsoever, parking wasn't bad once you made it in, IF you made it in, I know people was in traffic for a long long time. BUT the kids at this Fair was horrible, terrible, nasty mouths, rude and no respect for others around them. I heard kids that I know was in elementary/Jr high cussing like sailors talking dirty to each other, running around like wild child's. It was rather disturbing. This experience was one for the books and not in a good way at all. The only good thing was the food.

We try and attend events here, but don't go hungry, if only concessions are open, it's overpriced, they're always out of everything (no ketchup for burgers, out of napkins) and whomever is working does NOT want to be there and let's you know it, and they're all confused as to what's happening, how much things cost and what your change is (and it's not teenagers either)
So the events are ok. On par for what you expect from a small town, just don't expect to get anything to eat if they don't have outside vendors happening, or you will be stuck with a crappy burger, and a packaged slice of American cheese for an extra dollar (sold seperately) and no ketchup/mustard/mayo or napkins, for more expensive than Wendy's or McDonalds.

Edited to add: the most recent event we attended was NOT busy, the stands were 30% full, so it was poor planning, not a slammed event.

It's always a fun experience, even though the prices raise every year.

This year, 2024, many of the regular rides were replaced with lemonade stands, but there are usually a nice variety of rides when the fairs come around.

A little too muddy but we had a blast regardless... Felt safe and welcomed by all the folks helping run the rides very patient
